| ARTIST STATEMENT |
|
| I started taking pictures in the late 70's, when I saw the results of my first scene, I immediately changed my mind from becoming a lawyer to studying commercial photography. Next I opened a studio where I took pictures of practically everything in sight, from still lives, landscapes and commissioned portraits to commercial work for magazines. This all contributed to develop my style, technique and the way I regard photography. My passion for illumination takes me to interpret the elements in a very special way. My experience in a One-Person Show has been greeted with enthusiasm by the artistic community, which has shown an appreciation of the majestic images of our environment as a work of art. I've always dreamt of going out into the world with my Hasselblad. The pleasure of my personal assignment, leaving the house at the crack of dawn, when sunlight is barely out; reaching my destination is one of the most fulfilling experiences. I believe a photographer must carefully observe, waiting for the optimal light conditions. Sometimes, I feel intuitively compelled to wait for that particular moment that would create, personally, an affective image. Only when that moment has arrived I feel I have succeeded and can head home full of expectations. |
